In January of this year the Chinese Members of the Brigade again addressed me on the subject of their pay, and I
told them that they must wait.
It appears that it has become known recently that the Chinese employés in some Departments have received an increase in their pay, while those in others have not.
Hence this last complaint to me of insufficiency of pay.
The Chinese Staff is paid as follows:-
